Find your aptitude with summer jobs!

For students taking up summer jobs, marketing jobs is the first step to know how the corporate world functions. No other industry puts you quickly through the ropes of the industry. From drawing out campaign plans to structuring the teams into field work and office work, the work is conducted as a well-oiled machine.

In fact part-time jobs in marketing can help clear the doubts and even help identify your aptitudes and so on. I chanced upon this site www.appcogroupjobs.com - they have a section on marketing jobs for part-time, full time and freelance jobs.

We all know that kid in class who can ‘sell an ice cream to an Eskimo’… ever wonder what he/she is doing learning molecular biology? If you are clueless about your forte, summer jobs are the way to go – an opportunity to find a new direction, and perhaps a career you love!

Backpacker student vacation!

Came across a group of students planning out an exotic holiday to a far off land; before you jump to wrong conclusions let me say this that at the very outset – they are taking the backpacker route. So its hello hostels, homestays, cottages, dorm-style accommodation and so on.

Ah, the romance of it all – scrounging up the money and looking forward to the life of a wanderer, albeit with modern GPS satellite phones and more! However, going minus the gizmos would actually be the challenge and the best way to detox the cyber noise, though I admit, for a student, this is like going without oxygen.

Student groups have gone to as far off places as Kerala, in India; all planned with the help of (aptly named for India) holiday planners called Karma Kerala. The group I met were headed out to London to take in the Olympics atmosphere and walk around Oxford, Cambridge, Globe Theatre and so on. I counted three poets among them explaining their choices of places.

Backpacker travel is probably the best way to be for a student – a discovery trip that’s both a journey into places as well as into your own mind.
